Tomato Cream Sauce with Ravioli

Ingredients:

2 lb. frozen cheese ravioli

2 tbs. olive oil

1/2 cup diced sweet onion

1 tsp. minced garlic

14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes

15 oz. can tomato sauce

1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning

1/2 tsp. basil

1/2 tsp. sugar

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper or to taste (optional)

black pepper, to taste

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup finely shredded Parmesan, plus extra for serving

Directions:

1. Bring pot of salted water to boil. Cook ravioli according to package directions.

2. Heat olive oil in a 12-inch sauté pan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes, or until onion has softened and is translucent.

3. Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, basil, sugar, salt, crushed red pepper (if using), and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

4. Add heavy cream and Parmesan and cook until warmed through and bubbly, 1-2 minutes.

5. Serve on top of ravioli and top with extra Parmesan.
